After you upgrade to a prerelease (beta) version of Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), After Effects CS6 or After Effects CC doesn't launch. Update After Effects to the current version To update After Effects CS6 or After Effects CC to the most recent version for Mac OS X. Oct 18, 2014 I've read CS5 Photoshop, Illustrator (after a new Java update), Premiere all works - But After Effects stated above is 'not working.' - Not 100% sure about Dreamweaver or Lightroom 5. All of these programs I must have. Still digging around the web for any other input, other issues with compatible programs. So I am hesitant to upgrade right now.

This issue affects users working with After Effects CS6 (11.0) on Mac OS X 10.10, and later.

This problem only appears in After Effects CS6; it does not happen in After Effects CC (12.x) or After Effects CC 2014 (13.x).
You can use Adobe Media Encoder or Adobe Prelude to transcode footage to another format that does not have this issue.
